AS A SOPHOMORE (2006)
The only Tar Heel to play in all 69 games • Made 64 starts, mainly at third base • Shared the team lead with 68 runs scored, which ranks ninth all time at Carolina • Led the team with 19 doubles • Also hit .292 (68-for-233) with nine home runs and 44 RBI • Also drew a team-best 41 walks and was hit by a pitch 21 times - the most by a Tar Heel since 2000 - and posted a .433 on-base percentage • Reached base in 62 of 64 games started • Was fifth on the team with 19 multi-hit games and sixth with nine multi-RBI games • Hit .314 with runners on base • Named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week and ACC Player of the Week after going 11-for-19 with 10 runs scored, nine RBI, four doubles, a triple and three home runs from April 3-9 • Went 6-for-10 in the Miami series, including first career multi-homer game and four RBI April 9 • Had a career-best 11-game hitting streak from March 25-April 9 • Hit .314 in the NCAA Tournament and .318 at the College World Series • Went 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI against Cal State Fullerton June 16 in the first game of the CWS • Went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the Super Regional clincher at Alabama June 10 • Drove in a career-best six runs on a double and a home run against Seton Hall Feb. 19 • Scored a career-best four runs at Charlotte April 12 • Went 2-for-4 with three RBI on a double and a home run against Elon April 4 • Also drove in three runs in the season-opener against Seton Hall Feb. 17 • Hit three home runs and tallied 13 RBI in ACC play. AS A FRESHMAN (2005)
Hit .304 (35-for-115) in 46 games • Made 32 starts at third base • Scored 20 runs and drove in 15 runs • Hit one home run and added four doubles • Hit .313 with runners in scoring position • Tallied 10 multi-hit games and had a season-long hitting streak of six games • Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored against Princeton March 15 and was also 3-for-4 at Clemson March 18 • Went 5-for-11 with four runs scored and four RBI in the Wake Forest series • Also hit his lone home run of the season against the Deacons • Came off the bench to go 2-for-2 at Florida State May 15 • Was 2-for-3 against Notre Dame in the NCAA Gainesville Regional June 5. Summer 2005: Played with the Mankato MoonDogs of the Northwoods League • Started at third base in the league's All-Star Game • Hit .333 with seven home runs and 34 RBI • Had a team-best 12 doubles and two triples • Also stole nine bases and slugged .512 • Rated the No. 10 prospect in the Northwoods League by Baseball America.
