Sophomore (2014)
Talented right-hander who had a breakout season, earning first-team All-ACC honors as a reliever • Compiled a 9-1 record with six saves in 34 appearances (one start) with a 2.25 ERA in 64.0 innings • His nine wins were a team high • Struck out 81 batters and walked just 24 while holding opponents to a .194 batting average • Ranked fourth nationally and first in the ACC in strikeouts per nine innings (11.39 K/9) • Among major-college pitchers, only TCU's Brandon Finnegan, who pitched in the 2014 World Series for Kansas City, ranked higher • Allowed just eight extra-base hits and two home runs for the year • Recorded at least five outs in five of his six saves, including 4.0 no-hit innings to seal a win at Boston College (4/6) • Had perhaps his most impressive outing of the year in a win over Florida State (5/11), allowing just one run on three hits with a season-high eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings, his longest out of the year • Made his lone start of the year against NC State in the ACC tournament and did not factor into the decision after allowing three runs in 3.1 innings • Earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance 4/21-27 • Allowed just one hit over 5.0 innings on the week, registering three saves and a win as the Tar Heels beat No. 30 Liberty and swept Virginia Tech.

Appeared in 18 games with four starts • Finished 4-0 on the year with a 2.36 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched, allowing just nine earned runs and 20 hits • Struck out 26 batters while holding opponents to just a .164 batting average • Got the win in two of Carolina's most dramatic wins of the year • Retired the last batter in UNC's 13-inning win over Florida Atlantic in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional • Went five scoreless innings in relief to get the win over Clemson in the ACC Championship • Gave up just one hit and no runs in five innings against Appalachian State (5/14) • Struck out a season-high five batters while conceding just one earned run against Charlotte (4/24) • Pitched a season-high five innings three times during the season.
