Sophomore Season (2018)
Finished the season 4-1 with a 4.57 ERA in 18 appearances and 12 starts • Opened the season in the weekend rotation before finishing the year coming out of the bullpen • Struck out a career high 74 batters • Struck out a career high 10 batters in his first outing of the year on February 17 at South Florida • Threw a career high 7.0 innings against Pittsburgh on March 16 and Wake Forest March 30 • Won his first three starts of the year to go 10-0 all-time during his Tar Heel career • Lost the first game of his career at Virginia on April 13 • Won his final start of the season on May 13 at Duke after striking out four batters in 5.0 innings of work • Threw a shutout innings of relief in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regionals against North Carolina A&T striking out two batters.
Freshman Season (2017)
Finished 7-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 63.0 innings as a true freshman • Struck out 47 batters on the year • Made 15 starts, primarily in a midweek role • Became the eighth pitcher in Carolina history to win at least seven decisions without a loss in a single season and the first since Adam Warren went 12-0 in 2007 • Allowed one run over 5.1 innings to beat FGCU in the 2017 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional • Made two starts in the ACC tournament, picking up a win with three scoreless frames against Boston College • Went a season-long 6.0 innings and allowed just one hit and no runs in a win over UNCW on May 16 • In his only relief appearance of the year, retired all four batters he faced to pick up the victory at Florida State on April 2 • Won his first three career starts, including being a part of a combined one-hitter against Maryland on March 14 • Struck out a season-high six batters in his collegiate debut, a win over Winthrop • Earned all-league honors in the Cape Cod League after a standout summer with the Harwich Mariners.
