Chris Fry

Chris Fry joined the UNC field hockey staff in 2019 as the team’s performance analyst. Fry’s position is a first for the Tar Heel program.
Since February of 2017, Fry has worked as performance analyst for the USA Field Hockey Women’s National Team. He has traveled to provide video analysis for games and tournaments around the world, including the World League Semi Finals in South Africa, the World League Final in New Zealand, the 2018 World Cup in England, and various locations for the FIH Pro League.
Fry, from Dorchester, England, previously worked as an assistant field hockey coach for the University of the Pacific and a performance analyst for the Wales National Team. He spent four seasons at Pacific, after working for four years with the Wales Senior Men’s Team and U21 Men’s Team.
While in Wales he also served as performance analyst for the Cardiff & Metropolitan Hockey Club Men’s First Team, helping the squad to the England Hockey West Conference championship in 2012-13.
In July 2018, Fry presented at the Hudl Elite User Conference in Las Vegas on his work using SportsCode in field hockey. His presentation was titled “Workflow Examples and Going Beyond Coding.”
Fry graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise science, and went on to earn a master’s degree from Cardiff in 2014. As a player for the men’s field hockey first team at Cardiff Metropolitan, he helped his team to the West Conference Cup.
