Jeff Negalha begins year two of his second stint in Chapel Hill as an assistant coach for the North Carolina men's soccer program in 2025.
A familiar face of the sidelines in Chapel Hill, Negalha was named the 2011 NSCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year, helping Carolina win its second national championship in program history that same season.
Negalha spent nine seasons as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels. In addition to his National Assistant Coach of the Year honor, he helped Carolina win the 2011 National Championship after three consecutive College Cup appearances in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
North Carolina has qualified for nine NCAA Tournaments in 10 seasons with Negalha on staff, won four ACC regular seasons championships and one ACC Tournament, while appearing in three ACC Tournament championship matches. Negalha played an integral role in securing eight-straight classes ranked within the national top-11, including the nation's No. 1 recruiting class in 2011.
In 2014 Negalha left Chapel Hill for MLS club Orlando City. While in Orlando, he was the assistant director of coaching and head coach for the U16 and U18 academy teams, while also serving as a scout and Portuguese translator for the professional team. His U16 academy team was awarded the Style of Play and Most Improved Club awards.
Negalha returned to Chapel Hill prior to the 2024 campaign after serving as the associate head coach at NC State since the start of 2017 campaign. In 2017, he helped lead the team to an NCAA tournament appearance for the first time since 2009. The 2018 season witnessed the program hosting and winning an NCAA Championship first round matchup for the first time since 1994. Negalha was part of NC State's three-straight postseason appearances in 2017, 2018 and 2019, making the NCAA tournament in three-straight years for the first time in 1985-87. During his time in Raleigh, Negalha was an integral part of multiple top-15 recruiting classes
Prior to his time with the Wolfpack, Negalha had coaching stops at Boston College and Pittsburgh. In 2016, Negalha was the associate head coach at Boston College where he spent the season helping the Eagles advance to the semifinal of the ACC Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Before his first stint in Chapel Hill, Negalha was the top assistant at USC Upstate from 1999-2003 and USF from 2003-05.
As a player, Negalha was a two-year starter in goal for the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, leading the Rifles to the NCAA quarterfinal round and the NCAA national championship game in 1997 and 1998, respectfully. In his two-year career at USCS, Negalha started 47 games, while allowing just 33 goals in nearly 3,900 minutes.
A 2000 graduate of USCS, Negalha holds his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, with a concentration in physical education.
