Junior - 2009 Season
Appeared in 20 games and started the final 16 • Scored a goal in the season-opening 5-0 win over UNC Asheville Sept. 1 • Also netted a goal in the win over Stetson Oct. 28 • Finished the year with seven total shots • Put four shots on frame during the season • Appeared in the midfield in all four NCAA Tournament matches.

Sophomore - 2008 Season
Reserve midfielder played in 16 matches and made two starts • Posted four points on a goal and two assists • Scored off the bench against Florida International Aug. 29 in his first game as a Tar Heel • Added assists against East Tennessee State and Clemson • Returned to the field against in the Nov. 30 NCAA Tournament win over UIC after suffering a fractured hand • Also saw action off the bench in the postseason against Northwestern and in both College Cup matches against Wake Forest and Maryland • Took three shots.

Freshman - 2007 Season (at UCF)
Starting center midfielder as a freshman at Central Florida • Earned Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors • Played in 17 games and made 15 starts • Tallied three points on one goal and one assist • Lone goal came against Memphis Sept. 14 • Assisted on a score versus Stetson Sept. 12.

Prep - Winter Park High School
All-state selection and two-time team MVP at Winter Park High School • Also earned all-metro, all-Orange County and all-Central Florida honors on multiple occasions • Served as team captain • Primarily played club soccer with Central Florida United • Earned USYSA/adidas All-America honors in 2006 • Played with both Florida and Region III ODP squads • Played PDL soccer since age 15 • Trained with FC Dallas in 2006.

Mark Dustin McCarty is the son of Dart and Cynthia McCarty • Born Oct. 12, 1988, in Winter Park, Fla. • Older brother Dax, a 2008 Olympian, starred at UNC and currently plays with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer • Majoring in exercise and sport science at Carolina and wants to pursue a career in professional soccer.
