Career Best Times: 20.60 in the 50-yard freestyle; 45.24 in the 100-yard freestyle; 50.21 in 100-yard backstroke.
General: Showed dramatic improvement during the 2004-05 campaign...two-year letter winner will be one of the Tar Heels' top freestyle sprinters...has also developed into a reliable sprint backstroker...will be counted on for major points in the individual sprint freestyle events as well as the freestyle relays...boasted Carolina's second best time last year in the 50 and 100 freestyles and fourth best time in the 100 back.
2004-05: One of the fastest and most reliable of Tar Heel freestyle sprinters...shared the Richard Jamerson Memorial Award as the team's most improved swimmer with Philip Owen...was named the men's swimming team's outstanding performer in strength and conditioning, sharing that award with Jon Van Assen...excelled at the ACC meet...swam the fastest leg of second-place 800-yard freestyle relay at with a 1:37.76 split...was also the quickest leg on the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 19.73 split...took 12th in the 50-yard freestyle with a 20.70 time...finished 15th in the 100-yard backstroke in 50.43...anchored the 400-yard medley relay team with a 44.02 split...took 11th in the 100-yard freestyle and was the Tar Heels' top finisher in a career best 45.28...swam the team's quickest split on the 400-yard freestyle relay.
2003-04: Asserted himself as one of the Tar Heels' top sprint freestylers...had his best meet against Clemson, establishing career bests in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles as well as the 100-yard backstroke...swam in the ACC Championships as an exhibition swimmer.
Prep: Graduated from Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C. on June 1, 2003...was an outstanding swimmer there and also played baseball for two years...captain of team as a senior...team MVP his freshman through senior years...recipient of coach's award in 2003...as a senior, he won the state championship in the 100-yard backstroke and was the runnerup in the 100-yard freestyle...club team MVP as a senior...swam for coach Dan Flack, a Tar Heel alumnus, at the Raleigh Swim Association.
