General: A three-time returning letterman who is one of the anchors of the sprint and middle distance freestyle corps...is a member of UNC's school-record holding 200 free, 400 free and 800 free relay squads.
Long Course Highlights: Swam the 50, 100 and 200-meter frees at the 2009 U.S. Open...placed 13th in the 100-meter free with a time of 50.68, breaking his own school record in the event...was 14th in the 200-meter freestyle in 1:51.71...ironically, he saw his school record in the 100 broken in the same meet by classmate Steve Cebertowicz at 50.58 seconds...originally set the school's long course record in the 100-meter free at 50.91 at the 2008 Junior Pan Pacific meet after he had signed his letter-of-intent but before he had enrolled at the University...qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-meter freestyle.
2010-11 (Junior): 2011 first-team All-America selection...also named to All-ACC Team...at the 2011 NCAA Championships he swam on the 800-yard freestyle relay team which placed seventh and the 400-yard freestyle relay squad with placed 11th...had a stellar ACC Championships meet...swam on 400 and 800 free relay teams which earned conference runners-up status...he placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in a career best 1:35.60...placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 43.72 and was 15th in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.32.
2009-10 (Sophomore): A 2010 honorable mention All-America...swam on two relays at NCAAs that earned those honors...swam the leadoff legs on the 400 free relay which placed 11th and the 800 free relay which copped 12th place...won the 200 free in the dual meet versus Maryland and at the Ga-mecock Invitational...was on 400 and 800 free relay teams which won titles at the Gamecock Invite...had a stellar 2010 ACC Championships meet...swam on a pair of relays which took runner-up finishes...led off the 800 free relay and anchored the 400 free relay at ACCs...individually he placed fourth in the 200 free (1:36.32) and fifth in the 100 free (44.29).
2008-09 (Freshman): At the ACC Championships, he placed 10th in the 200 free (1:36.59) and 17th in the 100 free (44.16)...had career best times in both of those events...had many great performances during the dual meet season as well...among those were winning the 100 and 200 freestyles against Georgia in his first collegiate competition.
Prep: Graduated from Delaware County Christian School in Newtown Square, Pa. in June 2008...multi-event winner in the 2007 and 2008 Eastern School Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 frees...multiple YMCA national champion and record holder...member of the U.S. Junior National Team...winner of the 50-meter free at the 2008 YMCA National Championships with a time of 23.66.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel swimmer is being part of a legacy.

3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my toughness.
