General: A top notch freshman diver brought into the program by new diving coach Nunzio Esposto...competes with the Triangle Diving club team...
Prep: Graduated from William G. Enloe High School in June 1999...swam and dove for the team at Enloe his sophomore through senior years...also swam as a freshman but did not start diving until the 10th grade...swam the 100 fly and 50 free and dove on the one-meter board...was captain of Enloe swimming team as a senior when the squad won the conference, regional and state championships...Jason was the state champion in one-meter diving as a junior...made the Old Reliable Team sponsored by the Raleigh News & Observer...was vice president of National Honor Society and an Academic All-America selection.
Personal: Given name is Jason Holway Danforth...is nicknamed "Waldo"...has two brothers...born March 16, 1981 in Salem, Va....is the son of Jeff and Debbie Danforth...hobbies include photography...athlete he most admires is Mike Finneran, Sr....biggest sports thrill was winning the team championship at states his senior year because he says he had completely messed up in his individual event...winning that championship was a good way to end his four years at Enloe...says that if you write the first letter of every month you get his name and last initial (JFMAMJJASOND)...plans to double major in mathematics and education.
