Ranks 10th in the 100-yard backstroke in UNC history at 57.25 and third in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:59.36...strong returning swimmer for the Carolina team...NCAA qualifier as a junior...an outstanding backstroker and individual medleyist...swam for coach John Morse at the Nashville Aquatic Club...was a 1995 Southeastern Zone Team member...was the runnerup in the 200 back at junior nationals in the spring of 1997......also a senior nationals qualifier in the 200 back…one of the top student-athletes for UNC.
Summer 2002:
Swam in the U.S. Nationals and finished 24th in the 200-meter backstroke.
2001-02:
Named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference...an NCAA qualifier in the 200-yard backstroke where she finished 24th in the 200 back...set personal best times in both the 100 and 200 back events...awarded a CSCAA All-Academic Award with a 3.707 GPA...named to Dean’s List in both fall 2001 and spring 2002...named to 2002 ACC Academic Honor Roll...at the ACC Championships she was second in the 200 back, 11th in the 100 back and 19th in the 400 IM.
Summer 2001:
Placed 18th in the 200-meter backstroke at the Santa Clara Grand Prix Meet...at the USS Southern Sectional in Georgia she was fifth in the 200-meter back....competed at the U.S. Summer Nationals where she took 30th in the 200-meter back. 2000-2001:
Had an illness marred sophomore campaign which affected her performance in the pool for much of the season...was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever...competed in the 2001 ACC Championships as an exhibition swimmer...had 21st best time in 400 IM and the fourth best time in the 200-yard backstroke...won the bonus consolation heat of the 200 back as an exhibition entry...named Dean’s List in fall semester 2000...2001 ACC Academic Honor Roll selection.
1999-2000:
At the 2000 ACC Championships she finished second in the 200 back (1:59.63)...also finished ninth in the 100 back (57.48) and 11th in the 400 IM (4:27.36)...all were career bests…her time in the 200 back ranked as the fourth-best all-time for a Tar Heel in that event…garnered Dean’s List honors both semesters...named to 2000 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Prep:
A May 1999 alumnus of Brentwood High School...was a four-year varsity swimmer there in the 100 back and 200 IM...was the state runnerup in high school in the 100 back in both 1997 and 1999...was named her high school team's MVP in 1999... named to U.S. Swimming Scholastic All-America Team in both 1997 and 1998…graduated in Top 10 of her class and earned membership in National Honor Society.

Given name is Anna Laura Collier...her nickname is “Lolo”...has one sister, Kathryn, who swam for UNC one year (1996-97)...daughter of William and Mary Collier...was born September 1, 1981 in Chattanooga, Tenn....hobbies include dancing, being sarcastic, making late night phone calls, anything ‘80s, music, playing flip cup and power hour and talking all night long...athletes she most admires are Lance Armstrong and Danley Stone...biggest sports thrills have been winning ACC’s two years in a row and competing in the 2000 Olympic Trials...politcal science major.
