Eli Danson

- Volunteer Assistant
Eli Danson has served as the volunteer assistant coach for the North Carolina Swimming and Diving program since February 2020. As the volunteer assistant, Danson has assisted all the coaches as they prepared the athletes for ACC and NCAA Championships.
Originally from Wausau, Wisconsin, Danson moved down to North Carolina to earn his master’s at Carolina in exercise physiology with an emphasis on immunology and oncology.

In addition to his role as volunteer assistant, Danson is the head age group coach for North Carolina Aquatic Club, working primarily with the 11-12 age group and national group. During his time with NCAC, Danson has overseen the growth of the age group program that has risen in three years from placing sixth at the state championship meet up to third.
Additionally, Danson has coached multiple age group athletes towards top 30 national times. Danson helped lead the senior program to set multiple North Carolina swimming records and qualify for Olympic Trials, Junior Nationals, and high school All-America status.
Danson received his bachelor of arts in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry at Carleton College where he was captain of the swim team his senior year. As a member of the Carleton swim team, Danson worked his way from not scoring a point at the MIAC conference championships his freshman year to being an A finalist in the 200 butterfly his junior and senior years.
Danson is the middle child of Dan Danson and Julie Luks, with an older brother, Ben, and a younger sister, Leah. In his free time, Danson enjoys his bowling league, playing the violin, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
