Sophomore Year (2017): Joins the Tar Heel varsity as chief backup goalkeeper to Samantha Leshnak this season.
High School: Attended Saint Stephens High School in Hickory, N.C. • played four years of varsity soccer as goalkeeper for her high school team • team captain • most valuable defender on her high school team • All-Conference selection • All-State nominee • competed on 3A North Carolina state championship soccer finalist team her freshman year.
Club: Played club soccer for Catawba Valley Youth Soccer Association.
Personal: Sam Nicole DeSantis is the daughter of Nancy and Michael DeSantis • stands 5-7 tall • has a brother, Bryce, 17 • was born March 11, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio • double major in information science and mathematics • a Dean’s List student at UNC where she currently has a 3.94 grade point average • her brother is a Division I college football kicking recruit • her grandfather is in the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame for both tennis and basketball.
