Alex Kimball was hired as director of team development for UNC women’s soccer in 2022 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach. In 2023, she was elevated to assistant coach.
As the director of team development, Kimball oversaw community outreach programs, harvested relations with local youth soccer programs and promoted the sale of tickets for home matches. She also assisted head coach Anson Dorrance with player development and associate head coach Damon Nahas with recruiting operations.
A four-year letterman for Dorrance, Kimball played 91 games during her UNC career and helped the Tar Heels reach two College Cups (2016, 2018) and captured two ACC regular season championships. She finished her career with nine goals and seven assists with more than 2800 minutes played.
Kimball began her professional career in January 2019 when she was selected by Utah Royals FC in the fourth round of the NWSL College Draft.
After suffering an injury during the 2019-20 season, Kimball work as an individual skilled trainer at GL Soccer training facility in Salt Lake City before becoming the director of development at Sporting io.
In 2021, Kimball joined the Utah Avalanche of the ECNL. She served as an organization intern working with 09', 08', 06', and 04' girl’s teams in addition to the 04', and 05' boy’s teams. She was also an assistant coach for Bonneville High School, helping them reach the semifinals of the playoffs.
Kimball represented Peru in the Copa America tournament in Cali, Colombia in summer of 2022.
She graduated from UNC with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration.
