One of the top in the college game...looks to be able to complete a season without injury as a Tar Heel in 2002...has been a member of the United States National Team since 1998...has earned 10 caps in that time and she has scored three goals during those 10 games...a three-year letter winner for the Tar Heels who is looking to have a breakthrough year after being injured for most of her first three years at UNC...must return to the squad in 2002 after recuperating from serious surgery last October to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament...she saw both her sophomore and junior years cut short with torn ACLs suffered in October 200 and October 2001 respectively...she was also injured much of her freshman year with various knee and ankle problems...she is ready to show the world of college soccer this year how good a player she is...selected as the top college recruit in the USA by Soccer America magazine coming out of high school in 1999...featured as the Top Teen Athlete of the Month by Teen People Magazine in June/July 1999...named the Sports Illustrated Old Spice Athlete of the Month in November 1998...1998 & 1999 National Soccer Coaches of America All-Youth Team selection.
ODP Soccer Experience
A member of the U.S National Team each of the past four years...was the only high school player invited to train with the U.S. National Team as part of the residency camp in Orlando, Fla. prior to the 1999 Women’s World Cup...started one game for the National Team in 1999 against Finland, playing all 90 minutes...was also chosen to train with the National Team in the residency camp which began in San Diego in January 2000...has earned 10 caps with the National Team, scoring three goals...played some outstanding soccer in the summer of 2000 as a member of the U.S. under-21 National Team which competed in the Nordic Cup...also played in 1998 for under-21 team at the Nordic Cup in Holland...played in all four games, scoring the winning goal against Finland...also played for the 1999 U.S. under-21 National Team which competed in the Nordic Cup in Iceland, winning the gold medal...she assisted on the game-winning goal which lifted the Americans to victory in sudden-death overtime of the tournament final...played in two international games with Women’s National Team against Ukraine in 1998...played on three regional championship teams with the Challenge 80/81 Club Team...played six years of competitive soccer with that club, coached by Tom Dean, trained by Dave (Smitty) Smith and Pat O’Toole...finished second at Nationals with club team in 1997...started playing recreational soccer at age five...played for the Timberline Youth Soccer Association...then played two years of competitive soccer with the Cy-Fair Youth Soccer Association...played on club teams which won two WAGS Tournament titles and finished second twice, won SURF Cup championship once, reigned as South Texas State champions seven times, earned three regional titles and one regional runnerup slot and was national tournament runnerup once...was MVP of regional tournament under-15 club play...Named to ODP State Team 1994-97...Region III ODP Team under-15 and under-19.
2001 Season
Was in the midst of another great season for the Tar Heels before she tore her ACL for the second successive year in a game against Florida State on October 12...in 11 games, she scored two goals and had eight assists...had a goal and an assist each against Missouri and Maryland, including the game winning goal against the Terrapins...had two assists in the win over Georgia and single assists against Texas, Auburn, Duke and Florida State.
2000 Season
Was headed towards a spectacular year before tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in practice on October 25, 2000...was a semifinalist last year for the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award and also for the Hermann Trophy...played in only 12 games last season before the ACL tear ended her season...she had also missed games in South Carolina and Oregon in September with an unrelated injury...she started all 12 games she played in and made the most of her playing time...she scored nine goals last season while taking only 24 shots...she added four assists for a total of 22 points...she tallied game-winning goals last season against Texas on August 25, Tennessee on September 3, William & Mary on September 22 and Duke on September 29...was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on October 2, 2000 after turning in an amazing performance in the 6-1 win on September 29...she took four shots in the game and scored three goals...she also added assists on two other Tar Heel goals...Bush opened the season with a pair of magnificent performances in her home state of Texas...she scored two goals and added one assist in a 9-2 win over Texas on August 25...she also scored a goal in the 4-1 win at Texas A&M on August 27...had a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Virginia on September 1...her other goals came against Tennessee and William & Mary, both game winners...despite the ACL tear she was still named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2000...had been named a preseason All-America by Soccer Buzz after showing so much promise her freshman year.
1999 Season
Finalist for 1999 Hermann Trophy...was a semifinalist for the 1999 Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award...was named the offensive MVP and to the All-Tournament Team at the 1999 NCAA Championship...a third-team Freshman All-America selection by Soccer Buzz...named ACC Player of the Week September 21, 1999...was named the Most Valuable Player of the Nike Carolina Classic...named to Soccer Buzz Southeast Region All-Freshman Team...was limited to action in 21 games as a freshman due to nagging injury problems...started in eight games...had four goals and nine assists for 17 points...had assists on three of Carolina’s four goals in the NCAA Final Four, including both against Notre Dame in the final...had one goal and two assists in back-to-back games against Florida State and Clemson (9/17 and 9/19/1999).
