Nick Vetell joined the UNC Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff in January of 2019.
A former UNC intern, Vetell now serves as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports. He is responsible for wrestling, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s tennis.
Before UNC, Vetell worked at IMG Academy where he assisted with football, baseball, track and field, tennis, and soccer. Before IMG Academy he was the strength and conditioning coach for wrestling at Greensboro College. He also served as an intern at Fort Bragg with the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), App State Weightlifting Club, and Appalachian State University Athletics.
A native of Trinity, N.C., Vetell earned his master's degree in exercise science from Appalachian State in 2016 as well as his bachelor's degree in health promotion in 2014. He competed as a wrestler for Appalachian State from 2010-2015.
Vetell is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting Advanced Sports Performance Coach.
He lives in Creedmoor with his wife, Meredith, and daughter, Emersyn.
