Final Day Of Myrtle Beach Retreat
October 1, 2017 | Women's Basketball
Hello, my name is Emily Sullivan and I'm a sophomore this year! Although this was my first retreat trip to Myrtle Beach with my team, I loved every second and can't wait to go again!
After a delicious dinner at Captain Johns Seafood in Calabash with Mayor Marilyn Hatley, the team headed back to Coach Hatchells beautiful beach house "Blue Heaven". We were told to go straight upstairs when we got home because Coach Sylvia Crawley had a presentation for us.Â
The presentation was about Hoop Phi, which no one in my class or the freshman class really knew that much about. Hoop Phi is the basketball sisterhood. We learned all about the tradition of Hoop Phi, how it has affected past players and what a big role it plays on every team. It really is a sisterhood and you are part of it for life, even long after you graduate.Â
After the meeting, it was late and some people were tired, so a few went to bed. A couple girls, including myself, started preparing for the breakfast we had to cook for everyone the next morning by prepping a casserole. While we did that, the rest of the team played Uno upstairs. We knew they were having fun because we could hear them laughing and yelling from downstairs! After that we went to sleep so we could be well rested for today.
This morning group B got up at 7:30 to start cooking breakfast for everyone. It had to be ready by 8:30, so we were in a rush! Unfortunately some of the food took a little longer than expected, but we made enough for people to have a little bit before they left for church. When everyone got home from the beautiful service on the beach, the breakfast was all ready and everyone enjoyed what we had prepared and had a good meal.Â
After eating, everyone packed up and got on the bus to go home. As this was my first trip I didn't know what to expect. But I had so much fun with my teammates. I think we got much closer as a team and it was a great way for us to relax and bond together. I can't wait to go back!
