Bailey Named ACC Rookie Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina freshman forward Janelle Bailey earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
Bailey, a preseason selection for the ACC Newcomer Watch List, averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Tar Heels. She recorded her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Radford, the preseason favorite to win the Big South Conference. Bailey added 17 points and five rebounds against South Alabama on Sunday.
Among ACC freshman, Bailey ranks second in the league in scoring with 14.5 points per game. She is shooting a robust 57.8 percent from the field through four games and ranks 10th in the ACC with 1.3 blocks per game.
