Bailey Earns 2nd ACC Rookie Of The Week Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina freshman Janelle Bailey earned her second ACC Rookie of the Week honor in the last three weeks, announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.Â
Bailey, a preseason selection for the ACC Newcomer Watch List, averaged a double-double with 15.0 points and 12.3 rebounds in leading North Carolina to a perfect 3-0 record last week. Bailey had 25 points and 13 rebounds in a resounding 90-70 victory over Hartford this past Friday, and earlier in the week had another double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks against previously unbeaten Minnesota in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday.Â
She leads all ACC freshman in scoring at 14.9 points per game and is shooting 52.6 percent from the field, the 10th best average in the league.Â
Carolina (6-2) hosts Presbyterian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Tar Heels enter the game on a four-game winning streak.Â
