Carolina In Myrtle For Weekend Retreat

My name is Destinee Walker and I am a junior on the North Carolina women's basketball team. This is my second retreat with the team and it has been tons of fun! We left Chapel Hill on Friday afternoon and arrived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after a 3 1/2 hour bus ride. Â
On the bus ride, some of us slept, some of us listened to music, and others completed their homework assignments, played uno, word guessing games, etc.
When we arrived in Myrtle, we stopped at the grocery store to shop for breakfast that we will cook on Saturday and Sunday morning. It was fun making grocery lists and shopping with my teammates.
We then made our way to Coach Hatchell's beach house, "Blue Heaven". We each took our bags off the bus and headed inside to our assigned rooms. We stayed at the house for a few minutes and then headed to an etiquette dinner where Mrs. Cecilia Grimes taught us the importance of manners and proper etiquette. She also taught us how to properly greet one another and how to introduce ourselves. I appreciated this lesson very much because these qualities she taught us are very important and will help us to incorporate proper etiquette skills in the real world.
After we got back from dinner, we read profiles of each other and there were many new facts that I learned about my teammates. I learned that Naomi Van Nes' favorite show is The Office, that Paris Kea really admire's NBA star Dirk Nowitzki, and that Stephanie Watts' dream place to visit is France. Overall, Friday was a great day and I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the trip with my lovely teammates! :)
