Guenther Named Scholar Of Distinction By NFHCA

UNC sophomore Feline Guenther has been named a Division I Scholar of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). The honor, announced on Thursday, goes the NCAA DI field hockey players who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better through the fall 2017 semester.

Guenther is a sophomore from Hamburg, Germany. She is in her first year at UNC after transferring in following a year at University of Hamburg. She hopes to major in business.

In 2017, she started every game in the midfield and was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, which draws on both academic and athletic performance.

On Tuesday the Tar Heels were announced as a recipient of the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, which recognizes programs with a team GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2017 fall semester.
