Kea Repeats As Top Player At Awards Banquet

CHAPEL HILL - First team All-ACC guard Paris Kea repeated as the team's overall champion during the annual end of of season banquet for the North Carolina women's basketball team put a wrap on the 2017-18 season.
For the second year in a row, Kea received the most cumulative points in all statistical categories maintained by the coaching staff throughout the season. The redshirt junior was also given the Strength and Conditioning Award for a second time and was also was given the Best offense Award.Â
ACC Freshman of the Year Janelle Bailey was honored with the Best Defense Award and senior Jamie Cherry was given the Best Outstanding Performance Award for scoring 1,500 career points in her Tar Heel career.Â
Redshirt freshman Jocelyn Jones was named sixth player of the year, freshman Jaelynn Murray was the most improved athlete and sophomore Olivia Smith received the coaches' award.
Most Enthusiastic Award went to sophomore Emily Sullivan, the Most Inspirational Award saw freshman Leah Church honored, and the Academic Award was given to sophomore Liz Roberts.
Koenen and classmate Naomi Van Nes were both selected for the Most Improved Strength and Conditioning Award.
