Two Tar Heels Selected For Umbro Select College All-Star Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Seniors Lorrie Fair and Rebekah McDowell have been selected to play in the Umbro Select College All-Star Classic on Feb. 3-6, 2000, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This is the fifth year that Umbro, the international soccer company, will put the spotlight on the top men and women college seniors who have finished their collegiate careers.
Fair and McDowell led North Carolina to a 24-2 overall mark and the NCAA Women's College Cup Championship in 1999. Fair finished her senior year with eight goals, ten assists and three game-winning goals. McDowell had seven assists in her final year. Fair was also a member of the United States National Team which won the World Cup last summer.
Twenty-six All-America selections will participate in the women's matchup, including 12 players that competed in the NCAA College Cup. The East-West women's game will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
