University of North Carolina head coach Carl Torbush has decided to realign the football staff and, as a result, assistant coaches Steve Marshall, Jim Hofher and Ken Mack will not return next season.
"This is a difficult action to take in light of the fact that Steve, Jim and Ken are not only excellent football coaches, but outstanding individuals," says Torbush. "They have represented the University of North Carolina at all times in a first-class manner. I appreciate the hard work they gave this program and wish them the very best in their next coaching assignment."
Marshall coordinated the Tar Heel offense and coached the offensive linemen the past two seasons. He came to Carolina after a year as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
Hofher coached the quarterbacks and coordinated the passing game in 1998 and 1999. He previously spent eight years as head coach at Cornell University.
Mack coached the running backs for the past four years. A UNC graduate, Mack coached for 14 years at the University of Virginia.
Torbush has not announced replacements in the staff realignment at this time.
