The North Carolina Tar Heels rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to record a 4-2 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks in Atlantic I Regional action Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.

Standout relief pitcher Derrick DePriest was once again outstanding, picking up his third win of the regional in 2.1 innings of work.
The Tar Heels trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh before rallying for three two-out runs. Jay Madeira walked with two outs and was driven to third base on a Chris LaMarsh single to left. The North Carolina Tar Heels used the strong right arm of Derrick DePriest to record an 8-2 win over the Florida International Golden Dragons in Atlantic I Regional action Saturday afternoon at Mark Light Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
The win gives the Heels their second win against one loss in the regional and advances them to a 2:00 p.m. matchup on Sunday against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Tar Heels got on the board first with a run in the second inning. Jarrett Shearin doubled to left and moved up to third on a Tyrell Godwin bunt. Richie Grimsley drove Shearin home with a poor bunt that went over the pitcher's head. Shearin's double was his 25th of the year, setting a new UNC single season record.
The Golden Dragons tied the score in the third on a Jason Vetter sacrifice fly, but the Heels got the run back in the bottom of the inning. Jay Madeira tripled to right to lead off and was driven home on a Rob Miano sacrifice fly.
The Tar Heels exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game. Dan Moylan led off with a double to left, then Shearin singled to left, Moylan to third. Godwin scorched a double to left-center, driving in both Moylan and Shearin. Grimsley bunted Godwin to 3rd for the first out, then Mike Earey was out on a fouled bunt attempt with two strikes. Madeira laced a double to right to drive in Godwin, followed by a Miano single that drove in Madeira.
Carolina picked up two insurance runs in the seventh. Chris LaMarsh led off with a home run to right, then Brian Roberts reached on a two-base error. Roberts stole third for his 63rd stolen base of the year and was driven home on a Moylan single up the middle. Roberts' run was his 78th of the year, a new North Carolina single-season record.
Joel Hernandez gave FIU its last run of the game on a lead-off homer in the ninth.
Every Tar Heel batter had at least one hit as Coach Mike Roberts' squad ups its record to 41-22. Florida International ends its season at 41-24.

Jarrett Shearin's RBI single in the top of the ninth inning gave the North Carolina Tar Heels a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the top-ranked Miami Hurricanes in Atlantic I Regional action Friday afternoon at Mark Light Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
With the score tied at 5-5, ACC Player of the Year Brian Roberts led off the 9th by getting hit with a pitch, then stole second. Dan Moylan followed with another walk, bringing up Shearin. Roberts stole 3rd on the first pitch, his 62nd steal of the season. Ace Hurricane reliever Robbie Morrison got two strikes on Shearin before Jarrett laced his game-winning single to left field.
Derrick DePriest picked up the win with four innings of relief work. DePriest gave up one run and four hits as he upped his record to 5-3 in his 41st appearance of the year.
The Hurricanes got on the board first on Aubrey Huff's three-run homer with no outs in the top of the first inning off Tar Heel starter Mike Bynum.
Carolina responded with two runs in the top of the second. Jarrett Shearin belted a solo homer, then Mike Earey drove in Tyrell Godwin with a two-out, opposite field single.
UNC tied the score on Dan Moylan's fifth inning homer, then took the lead on Richie Grimsley's lead-off homer in the top of the sixth.
Bynum walked the lead-off hitter in the bottom of the sixth and was relieved by Derrick DePriest. DePriest got the first man he faced out, then gave up a two-run shot to Manny Crespo.
Jay Madeira singled with two out in the eighth, then scored the tying run on Rob Miano's double down the left field line, setting the stage for the ninth inning heroics.
DePriest and the Tar Heels survived scares in both the bottom of the eight and the ninth innings. In the eight, Miami loaded the bases with one out but DePriest got Rick Saggese to ground into a first-to-home-to-first double-play to end the inning.
DePriest got the first two batters in the ninth out on grounders to Madeira at first before Brian Seever ripped a double to left. DePriest then worked the count to 2-2 on Huff before Huff tapped a grounder back to the mound for the easy, game-winning out.
Coach Mike Roberts' squad ups its record to 40-22 while Miami falls to 47-10.
Carolina will now play Florida International at 3:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
