CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 58th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team will return to the courts Thursday after a five-day break from action as Coach Sam Paul's improving team meets 26th-ranked Notre Dame in the opening day of action of the annual Blue-Gray Tennis Championship at Montgomery, Ala. UNC will meet the Fighting Irish at 11 a.m. C.S.T.
Carolina will be looking to break a three-match losing streak against the Fighting Irish. The Tar Heels are currently 6-6 but they played well during a three-match spring break stint in Texas where they fell to a troika of nationally-ranked teams.
Depending on the outcome of the UNC-UND match, the Tar Heels will play again on Friday in the Blue-Gray Championships against the winner/loser of Thursday's first-round match between 19th-ranked Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee State.
