CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina's women's golf coach Sally Austin announced Tuesday the signing of another recruit for the Tar Heel golf team for 1999-2000. Sarah Turcotte from St. Louis, Mo., inked with the Tar Heels. Turcotte attends St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Bradenton, Fla., and also plays at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
Turcotte won the St. Louis High School District Championship in 1997 and won the Gateway PGA event that same year. In 1998, she was the runner-up at the St. Louis Junior Championship.
"We're very excited to have Sarah join our program," says Austin. "She is an excellent student and a hard worker and we're looking forward to her contributing significantly to our team."
Turcotte is Carolina's second signee this year. Last fall, Abby Spector of Waterville, Maine, signed a letter of intent to play for the Tar Heels.
