Head Coach Carl Torbush
Could you please comment on your quarterbacks: I thought both quarterbacks played well. We wanted to start the game with two series each, and then see what happened. Both played well, both made some key plays.
Ronald Curry's moves continue to amaze me. Sometimes I can't believe his feet, the way he makes opponents miss him. I can't say enough about Ronald Curry.
Who will start at quarterback against Virginia:
I don't see any reason to come out on Monday and say who will start. If I'm the defensive coordinator I'd love to know who's starting. Both of them will get their snaps, they're both great athletes.
What about the fans in Charlottesville: I've been up there quite a few times in my career. They know me by my name, they know my birthday, they even know how many grey hairs I have. But you don't pay any attention to the crowd, you just take care of business. It's no difference than a closed-in basketball arena.
It's a great rivaly between two similar schools. This is one of the best UVA teams that I've seen. They're excellent on both sides of the ball. We'll go up there and give it all we've got.
How long have you known this would be Dre' Bly's last game at Kenan Stadium: We've known Dre's situation since last March. We know he won't be here, so we can go ahead and recruit for that position. I congratulate him and wish him well, as long as he gets his degree.
Could you comment on Na Brown's performance: He's a solid guy, it sometimes doesn't seem like he's making so many plays. He hardly ever drops the ball. Na's showing more speed, and he's better running after the catch.
He'll play on the next level. He's a great young man, we're very happy with him. Na's one of our best leaders.
Were you happy with your team's performance: If we can get this kind of offensive balance every game and not turn the ball over, we'll be OK. Maryland has a good defensive team, they've played good defense almost every week. Defensively we played better except for the last Maryland drive...I wasn't very happy with that drive.
Quarterback Ronald Curry
Did you think Oscar Davenport should start today: Oh definitely, it was his last home game. He's a great player with great devotion to the team.
How did you play today: There's room for improvement, but I thought I had a pretty good game. It took awhile, but I got in a groove.
Do you think you'll start next week: That's up to Coach Torbush, I just go with whatever he wants. Oscar is a great quarterback.
What about next week's game in Charlottesville: It's just another game, but the media is really into it. I'm still liked in Virginia, but I know it hurts them that I came here. They will have to get over it and move on.
What about UNC's losing streak in Charlottesville: We're living in the present, not in the past. We're not dwelling on what happened ten years ago. I do think Virginia was in the back of our minds today.
Wide Receiver Na Brown:
How do you feel about the Tar Heels now: This team has come a long way, and we're still rising. Everybody keeps working hard, looking for more good things. We still need to make a lot more improvement.
Tell us about the reverse you scored on: As soon as I got around the end I knew I had it made. I saw three of our guys pancake a Maryland player, and there was nothing but green grass ahead. Our offensive line really did a great job on the play.
Are you ready for Virginia: We better be, because we'll be in for a heck of a fight. We better be ready, with all our injuries the backups need to step forward.
Please comment on your team's slow start today: I don't know why we started slowly. We were flat at first, and we were frustrated. We knew we had to settle down and make things happen. Finally, everyone buckled down and played hard.
Would you compare Curry and Davenport: It's a little different in the huddle, Ronald's so soft-spoken. Both of them can get the job done, both can do the same things.
Ronald makes some spectacular plays. He can throw from any direction at any time.
Linebacker Brandon Spoon:
What about Dre' Bly turning pro: I'm very happy for Dre', we've known about it since the spring. We all support him. He'll make a great pro, and he's going to graduate, which is the most important thing.
What about next week's game: The Virginia game is a huge game. We've never had a very good relationship with them. It's hard not to get up for that game, we have to get ready for a war.
Cornerback Dre' Bly:
Na Brown probably won't make All ACC. Why: We spread it out a lot on offense. N.C. State does a good job of getting the ball to Torry Holt. If we threw as much to Na, he'd make All ACC.
Comment on where your team is now: We could have packed it in early on, but we didn't. We knew we had to concentrate on our conference games and keep our heads up.
Do you have a chance next week: We always have a chance to win, but everything needs to come together. That's a very tough place to play.
Have you enjoyed your stay in Chapel Hill: Oh yes, it's the greatest place in the world. UNC has taught me a lot. The overall environment is great. This town is full of great, friendly people. I'll always come back to Chapel Hill. It's just a great, great place.
