Men's Tennis Falls to Wake Forest, 5-2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Led by the play of senior Myles Clouston, the 42nd-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated 74th-ranked North Carolina 5-2 Wednesday afternoon in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Clouston, the nation's 55th-ranked singles player, defeated UNC senior Mike Grass, 6-0, 7-6 at #1 singles. At #1 doubles, Clouston combined with sophomore Raul Munoz to defeat UNCs Grass and Ben Elix, 8-6. Clouston and Munoz are the Atlantic Coast Conferences top-ranked doubles team at #14 nationally.
Carolina's victories came at #2 singles by junior Assaf Drori and #3 singles by sophomore David Cheatwood. UNC fell to 10-10 overall and 2-2 in the ACC with the loss to the Demon Deacons. Carolina had won all nine previous matches with the Deacons during the 1990s. Wake Forest improved to 11-10 overall and 3-2 in the ACC with the win.
The Tar Heels will play the second match of their four-match road trip on Saturday when they meet up with 24th-ranked Clemson (16-8, ACC 3-0) at 1 p.m. in Clemson, S.C.
