CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- The University of North Carolina has signed David Scott, a 6-0, 170-pound cornerback from Homestead, Fla., to a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Tar Heels. Scott is the 23rd high school senior to sign a Letter of Intent to play at Carolina. UNC has two remaining scholarships available.
Scott earned All-Dade County, second-team all-city and third-team all-state honors playing for Coach Andrew Brown at Homestead High School. He had seven interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown, and scored on three punt returns. Scott compiled 780 return yards last fall for Homestead. He runs the sprints for the track team in the spring.
"We are excited to make David Scott our 23rd signee this year," says UNC head coach Carl Torbush. "We've been recruiting him for a long time and things finally worked out for us to be able to sign him to a Letter of Intent. David is a good student and a really fast athlete. We think he could play either defensive back or wide receiver and he has shown the ability to return kickoffs and punts. He's a young man who fell in love with the University of North Carolina on his visit and worked really hard to get to a point where he could sign a Letter of Intent to play for the Tar Heels."
