After completing a three game sweep over Virginia, Carolina Baseball has sucessfully proven one point this season: they will not lose easily at home. Teams who look ahead on their schedule and see the words "At North Carolina" should be very worried.
With their lone home loss coming in the ACC opener against Wake Forest on March 19, UNC is a dazzling 21-1 at Boshamer this year. Other amazing numbers for the Tar Heels at "The Bosh" include average runs per game well over nine, three weekend series sweeps, and outscoring their opponents a hefty 203-78 in the 22 games played in Chapel Hill.
Another even more exciting set of numbers to look at is the attendance figures Carolina is putting up at home. The last game of the Virginia series drew almost 2500 people to the blue aluminum seats of Boshamer. Now, the Heels can boast one of those loud, enthused atmospheres that visiting teams hate so much. On more than one occasion this season, the sizable crowd in Boshamer has helped pull the Tar Heels out of a big jam.
Finally, it seems like the luck that some ACC teams find in their own venues has finally found its way down Ridge Road and taken a seat right behind the plate in Boshamer, because things are just going Carolina's way. All this bodes extremely well for the Heels as nine of their fourteen remaining regular season games are in Chapel Hill, as well as six of the nine conference matchups. Somehow, it must be a lot easier to play well with a little baby blue in the corner of your eye.
