CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina's Debbie Castine and Maryland's Quinn Carney were named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week Wednesday after leading their respective teams to victory last week.
Tar Heel goalkeeper Debbie Castine earns ACC co-player of the week honors for the second time this year after leading the stout Carolina defensive effort in a game against #4 Virginia last Saturday. Castine, a Montville, N.J., native faced a total of 16 shots on goal, saving 13 to lead the Tar Heels to a 6-3 win over the Cavaliers, UNC's first ACC win of the season.
Carney, a sophomore from Flemington, N.J., recorded seven goals and one assist in Maryland's two wins over #20 Brown and #12 Old Dominion. The Terrapin attacker also totaled six ground balls, four caused turnovers and one draw control during the two-game week.
