Women's Golf in 16th After Two Rounds

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - North Carolina's women's golf team is in 16th place with a 652 total after two rounds of the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships. Tulsa leads the field of 17 teams with a 590 total. Georgia is 10 shots back in second place at 600 while Duke is third at 601, the Swedish National Team is fourth at 606 and Louisiana State is fifth at 609.
Three Tulsa players are among the top four individuals as Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh grabbed the second-round lead at even par 144. A trio of players are tied for second place -- Tulsa's Niina Laitinen and Filippa Helmersson and San Jose State's Jessica Krantz.
Shelley McKevitt is the low Tar Heel as she is tied for 38th place with a 155 total. Cuyler Buckles is tied for 41st at 156 while Heather Angell is tied for 58th at 160 and Kim Smith is 86th at 181. Marcy Newton withdrew from the tournament after spraining her ankle. The 54-hole event is being played at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf & Country Club which features a par 72, 5,985-yard layout. The tournament continues through Sunday.
