Women Golf Finishes Fourth at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of North Carolina's women's golf team placed fourth after the final round of the ACC Women's Golf Championship. Defending ACC champion Duke led each of the three rounds with Florida State and Wake Forest finishing in second and third places, respectively.

Duke's Beth Bauer earned the individual title after firing an even par 216, followed closely by Duke senior All-American Jenny Chuasiriporn, who shot 219, finishing three strokes back in second place. Carolina's Marcy Newton shot a final round 72 and 227 overall and finished in ninth place for the tournament. Fellow Tar Heels Heather Angell and Cuyler Buckles also placed in the top fifteen, finishing tied for 11th and 13th, respectively. Rounding out the Tar Heel squad were Shelley McKevitt, who placed 17th and Beth Lever, who finished in the 20th position.

Duke University earned their fourth straight ACC Championship in addition to having a Duke player win an individual title, their sixth individual winning the medalist honor.

The event is being played at the Grandover East golf course in Greensboro, N.C., which features a par 72, 5,950-yard layout.
