Carolina Women Golfers Tied For Seventh

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - North Carolina's women's golf team tied for seventh place with a 967 total in the Casa de Campo Intercollegiate. South Carolina captured the team title with a 938 total. Tennessee was the runner-up at 941 while Wake Forest and Florida State tied for third place at 950. The 54-hole event was played at the famed "Teeth of the Dog" which features a par 72, 6,059-yard layout.
Lotte Moeller of South Carolina won the individual title after firing a one-under 71 in the final round for a 229 total. Kelly Kirwin of Wake Forest was the runner-up with a 231 total. Tennessee's Young Yang and Vanderbilt's Mallory Crosland tied for third place with 234 totals while four players tied for fifth place at 235 -- Purdue's Angie Blythe, South Carolina's Emma Lofgren and Cecilia Eklelundh and Tennessee's Stacey Bergman.
Marcy Newton was the low Tar Heel as she tied for 13th place with a 237 total. Heather Angell posted a tie for 20th place with a 239 total. Cuyler Buckles finished the tournament with a 244 total while Shelley McKevitt carded a 249 and Beth Lever scored 265.
Carolina's next action comes March 19-21 when they travel to South Carolina to play in the Lady Gamecock Classic.
