From Andy Bershak to Charlie Justice, from Lawrence Taylor to Dre' Bly, the North Carolina Tar Heels have a rich and colorful
108-year history. The Heels have played 1,057 games, including 23 postseason bowl games, posting a 591-412-54 record.
During that time Carolina has had 27 standout players make first-team All-America, beginning with George Barclay in 1934 and
culminating with the threesome of Dre' Bly, Greg Ellis and Brian Simmons in 1997.
Since 1927 Carolina has played in Kenan Memorial Stadium, the most picturesque football stadium in America. Located among the pine trees
of South Campus, Kenan Stadium recently underwent a renovation project that added 8,000 seats as well as the fabulous Frank H. Kenan Football Center,
the finest facility of its type in the country. These improvements are a fitting way to cap off the last century, leading the Carl Torbush era into
the 21st century.
