Carolina's Future Football Opponents
June 21, 1999 | Football
May 12, 1999
The North Carolina Tar Heels will face an increasingly difficult schedule over the
next few years, one that will have the Heels facing an exciting array of opponents.
Included are intersectional matchups against Arizona St., Colorado, Michigan,
Syracuse, Texas, Wisconsin and others.
Also on the schedule are home-and-home games with East Carolina in
2001 and 2003.
Note that Arizona St. has been added in 2002 and 2003.
The series is a result of recent NCAA legislation that permits a 12th football
game in certain years, depending on the number of available Saturday dates in
the calendar from the start of the season to the end of November. The first
year in which teams may add the 12th game is the year 2002.
Listed below is the Tar Heels' tentative schedule through the year 2010.
