CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina completed its football two-a-day practices Tuesday afternoon with a two-hour workout in full pads at the team's practice facility at Henry Stadium.
Carolina head coach Carl Torbush said the following after practice:
General thoughts:
"I think we've made a great deal of strides. I thought we had a good practice this morning and that's really good considering we did a lot of hitting yesterday. This afternoon it was really hot, and I didn't feel like we had the consistency we've been having, but I still thought it was a good practice. There was a good sense of urgency, and we're making good plays. The thing we've got to do now is get some consistency and get ready for Virginia."
On wide receivers:
"I feel like we've got some outstanding receivers in Jason Peace, Kory Bailey, Greg Harris and some of our young guys have really come around, but we need to get our freshmen some reps also because we feel like we've got one ? which is Sam Aiken ? who's got a chance to contribute this year. I've also seen some good plays today by Jamal Jones and Isaiah Robinson."
On injuries:
"Right now we've got a lot of hamstring problems and some calf problems, but we don't have anything that has put anybody out for the season, with the exception of (freshman DB) Justin Browne who will not play this year and will be operated on probably within the next two weeks. But anytime you have two-a-days you're going to have some guys miss some practices and periods, but overall we've been very pleased with how the team's responded."
