CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina football team worked out for two hours Thursday afternoon at Henry Stadium. The following are some of head coach Carl Torbush's comments following the drills:
General thoughts:
"What we want to do is pull off of them a little bit tomorrow. We'll have our complete game-day review, where we'll have our kicking situations and we'll do a lot of mental work. We'll be in shorts and shoulder pads.
"What we wanted to do today was let our guys understand more down-and-distance situations instead of just hitting - understanding what it takes to get just one more yard for a first down or on defense what it takes to stop just one yard. So we put them in a lot more game-type situations and things got pretty competitive. And at the end we worked them in third down situations. I think we got a lot of good things done today. We made some mistakes, which you're going to have, but those are things we can teach and correct."
On Rufus Brown and the offense:
"I need to see the film, but I thought Rufus Brown ran extremely hard today. He had a lot of good movement. We really did a lot of good things and we'll be able to make some great evaluations off this film. I felt like the first-team offense showed some real progress."
