WINSTON-SALEM N.C. (AP) - Alisha Mosley scored a career-high 24 points to help Wake Forest send No. 15 North Carolina to its fifth straight defeat, 69-56 on Sunday.
Wake Forest (6-10, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) snapped an 18-game losing streak to North Carolina (9-7, 1-5 ACC) and recorded its first win over a ranked team since 1996.
The Demon Deacons jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed, leading by as many as 13 in the first half.
The Tar Heels held Wake Forest scoreless for the first 5:04 of the second half and cut the Demon Deacons' lead to 29-26. Mosley's two free throws with 14:56 left broke the drought and began an 11-2 Wake run that pushed the margin back to 12 points.
North Carolina, which shot 30 percent from the field and hit on only 6-of-26 on 3-pointers, never got any closer.
LaQuanda Barksdale, the ACC's leading scorer coming into the game, was held to two points on 1-of-12 shooting for North Carolina.
Jackie Higgins led the Tar Heels with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Lea Sharp added 15.
Val Klopfer scored 10 points for Wake Forest.
