Ronald Curry:
"They had a great defensive scheme and we shot ourselves in the foot
sometimes. They did what we expected them to do. They're a good football
team and they played a good game.
"We are capable of playing better. We need to be more consistent.
"We wanted to run the ball coming into the game. Sometimes we did it well, sometimes we didn't.
"They did what we expected them to do. They're a good football team. They play good defense, too.
"We've lost three games, but hopefully we'll get a big win next week. I know this game was big for the in-state rivalry and for our fans.
"Hopefully they'll stay behind us."
Sedrick Hodge:
"We knew they were a good passing team but also able to run the ball.
We didn't tackle well.
"We came out in the second half saying the offense is doing the job, we've got to pull our weight. We were leaving them out to dry when State was driving and scoring points, and we couldn't even stop State.
"We have to keep our heads up. This is really frustrating to lose to a team in your own backyard. We know we'll have to hear about it for a year.
"I think now is the time we'll find out what kind of leaders we have.
"We're not too far from playing to our potential. If we can get that done, we'll be competitive next week.
"The guys are down right now, but we'll watch the film and critique it and come back and play well against Clemson."
Brandon Russell:
"I kind of had an idea about what this rivalry was like, but I figured out
tonight how strong it is. This was definitely an exciting atmosphere, to
say the least.
"We showed when we were down 24-7 that we can come back, but next time we've got to be able to finish the job.
"It's tough to forget about a loss like this, but we know we have to do that if we want to be successful next week against Clemson."
Brandon Spoon:
"I'm upset. Any time you lose a game you're going to be upset, you're going to
be mad. It's tough. It's going to sting a bit more than most losses do.
"State played well tonight, and they deserved to win.
"We battled back from adversity in the first half. We did pretty well in the second half, but we just didn't convert on certain plays.
"Big mistakes hurt. Jumping offside, things like that. That really took the wind out of our sails.
John Lafferty:
"We practiced the fake punt a lot last week and this week. That was one of the fakes
we used against State last year.
"They come hard off the corners every single time, and we figured we could have made a first down. It would have been real important to make that."
