Tar Heels Defeat Florida State in Volleyball, 3-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--The University of North Carolina volleyball team defeated the Florida State Seminoles 15-10, 11-15, 15-10, 15-8 at Carmichael Auditorium Friday night. The Wachovia Challenge attendance goal of 400 was met as 512 fans came out to cheer on the Tar Heels during the two-hour match. The win brings the Tar Heels to 19-4 overall and 9-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Seminoles are now 15-9 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
Four Carolina players tallied double-digits in kills. Senior Casey Simpson led the team with 17 kills and 12 digs. Junior Krista Buchholz posted 15 kills. Sophomore Laura Greene totaled 14 kills and 7 digs, and freshman Nicole Reis registered 11 kills and 12 digs. Senior Lisa Fryer added 12 digs. Sophomore Eve Rackham had 62 assists in the match.
Jennifer Werrick led the Seminoles with 15 kills and 9 digs. Erica Bunch posted 12 kills and 6 digs, and Jennifer Anderson added 42 assists.
The Tar Heels will host the Maryland Terrapins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22. Carolina defeated Maryland 3-0 during their last meeting on Oct. 6.
