Quarterback Ronald Curry returned to practice on Wednesday, one day after the passing of his grandmother, and should start at Virginia on Saturday.
The Hampton, Va., native missed Tuesday's practice because of his grandmother's death, but says he expects to play this weekend.
Curry will be playing in Charlottesville for the second time in his career. Two years ago, Curry was 3 of 8 for 25 yards passing and had four rushes for 11 yards in the Tar Heels 30-17 loss.
"I don't think it can get any worse than it did my freshman year and it's been a long time," said Curry of the experience. "I'm sure it won't be pleasant. I do a good job of blocking that stuff out and that won't change on Saturday. It's just like any other game for me."
The Tar Heels will be looking to end a nine-game losing streak at Virginia where they have not won since 1981.
