"Another tough loss. In the key situations, defensively (Virginia) was able to make the key plays on third downs to keep us from moving the ball consistently. Their offense was able to make some key plays when they needed to make them to get the ball down the field. They made the plays, but at the same time, we did not.
"Anytime you can hold Virginia to 227 total yards, you think you would win the ballgame. We didn't. I thought we put pressure on Ellis.
"I thought we learned how to win after the Marshall game, but over the last four weeks, we just have not pulled it off when we had chances late in the game. I still think we have a chance to be a good football team. But to be a good football team, you have to win games. It is not time for anybody on this football team to start feeling sorry for themselves.
"They put good pressure on us. They were bringing five or six guys quite often. They did a good job mixing the coverages up. We felt like it was a game where Alge Crumpler could be effective, and he was at times. Two or three times I thought we had a chance to make the catch and break some big ones -- if we made the catch.
"I thought we should have been up at halftime by at least seven points and maybe more if we made some key plays. I thought we came out in the second half and responded well."
