
Carolina Volleyball Falls To Wake Forest 3-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina fell to Wake Forest 11-15, 15-7, 8-15, 7-15 Saturday night (Oct. 28) at Reynolds Gym. Wake Forest is the only ACC team to defeat the Tar Heels as they move to 16-7 overall and 7-5 in ACC action. Carolina drops to 21-5 overall and 11-2 in the ACC.
Carolina tallied three players with double digit kills. Freshman outside hitter Nicole Reis registered 16 kills and six digs. Sophomore hitter Laura Greene registered her 11th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs. Junior middle hitter Krista Buchholz added 12 kills and defensive specialist Liz Feldman posted16 digs.
The Tar Heels came out strong in game one with a 3-0 lead. The Deacons added three points to tie the game and would go on to take the game 15-11. In game two, Carolina took an early lead and outhit Wake .444 to .255 to take the game, 15-7. In games three and four, the Deacons came out strong and were able to outscore the Heels to win the match 3-1.
The Deacons were led by Trina Maso de Moya with a match high 23 kills and 20 digs. Margaret Davidson totaled 13 kills and 14 digs and Ashlee Phillips contributed a match-high 56 assists.
The Tar Heels returns home for a Halloween match against NC State, Tuesday (Oct.31) night at 7:00 pm at Carmichael Auditorium
