
Carolina Volleyball Rallies To A Win Over Virginia

Charlottesville, Va. - Freshman Nicole Reis recorded a season high 29 kills on 72 attempts and 16 digs as the University of North Carolina volleyball team extended its ACC streak to 6-0 defeating Virginia in five games 4-15, 15-17, 15-6, 15-12, 15-11. The Tar Heels are now 16-3 for the season. Virginia is 8-9 and 4-3 in the ACC.
Three Tar Heels, including Reis posted double-digits in kills. Laura Greene registered her seventh double-double of the season with 14 kills and 18 digs. Casey Simpson added 15 kills and nine digs. Liz Feldman notched a career high 26 digs and Eve Rackham tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 58 assists and 15 digs.
The Cavaliers held the Tar Heels to four points in game one and a .030 hitting percentage to their .323. Both teams battled in game two and Virginia edged past Carolina to a 17-15 victory. UNC responded and fought back to take games three and four and a chance to win in game five. The Tar Heel defense kept the Cavaliers to a .129 hitting percentage and rallied to a 15-11 victory.
Virginia also had three players reach double-digit kills. Deanna Zwarich led with 21 kills. Paige Davis posted 12 kills and 17 digs and Katie Jones recorded a match-high 27 digs for the Cavaliers.
The Carolina Tar Heels return to Chapel Hill after their five game road trip posting a 4-1 record. UNC will rest up for their first meeting with Wake Forest this season. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13.
