Meniane Advances in All-American Championships

ATLANTA, GA. - University of North Carolina sophomore men's tennis player Trystan Meniane has advanced to the Qualifying Tournament of the All-American Championships sponsored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Martinique, France native won four matches in the pre-qualifying stage of the tournament over the weekend, earning a spot in the 64-player qualifying event which begins on Tuesday.
Meniane survived the 256-man draw in the pre-qualifying phase to earn one of 16 spots saved in the qualifying stage of the prestigious championship. Over the weekend he won four successive straight set matches. He beat Jamal Parker of Illinois, 6-1, 7-5, Zach Dailey of Vanderbilt, 6-3, 6-0, Aman Gill of Troy State, 6-4, 6-2, and Eric Butorac of Ball State, 6-1, 6-3.
Meniane will begin play in the All-American Championships Qualifying Tournament on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. when he meets Florida's Nathan Overholser in the first round. Each player in the Qualifying Tournament must win two matches in order to advance to the Main Draw of the Tournament which begins on Wednesday.
