Torbush Dismissed As Tar Heel Head Football Coach

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina has dismissed head football coach Carl Torbush, Director of Athletics Dick Baddour announced today.
Baddour will be made available to the media at 4:30 p.m. today at Bowles Hall, which is adjacent to the Smith Center.
Torbush had two years remaining on his five-year contract. His three-year record as head coach of the Tar Heels was 17-18. He joined the UNC staff in 1988 as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach and was promoted to head coach on December 8, 1997.
