The North Carolina Tar Heels rallied for two goals in a seven-minute span to take a 2-1 win over the UCLA Bruins Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif. The win gives Carolina its 16th NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
After a scoreless first half, UCLA took a 1-0 lead on Lindsay Greco's goal. UNC came back to tie the game on a goal by Meredith Florance with 14:30 left to play, then took the lead for good when the Bruin's CiCi Peterson put the ball into her own goal following a Tar Heel shot with 7:41 remaining in the match.
Unofficially, Carolina had 15 shots to 5 for the Bruins while holding a large 12-2 margin in corner kicks.
Today's game was the first all season that UCLA gave up more than one goal.
TarHeelBlue will have complete game coverage later tonight.
