Peppers Named Walter Camp Second-Team All-America

Chapel Hill, N.C. - University of North Carolina sophomore defensive end Julius Peppers was named a second-team All-America by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, released on Thursday. The Walter Camp team is selected by a balloting of Division I-A coaches and sports information directors. It is the fourth All-America team Peppers has made this season.
Peppers was named a first-team All-America by CNNSI.com and CollegeFootballNews.com and was a second-team All-America selection by Football News.
Peppers led the Atlantic Coast Conference with 15 sacks and set a single-season school record with 24 tackles for loss.
Peppers started every game this season for the Tar Heels and finished with 64 tackles. His 15 sacks were one shy of Lawrence Taylor's school-record of 16 set in 1980. He was twice named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performances vs. Wake Forest and Virginia.
Of his 15 sacks, 13 came on the road. He had four sacks at Virginia, three sacks at Pittsburgh and two sacks at Florida State, Wake Forest and Duke. He scored two touchdowns this year, including a 12-yard fumble return at Wake Forest and a 27-yard interception return at Duke. In Carolina's 59-21 season-ending win over the Blue Devils on Nov. 18, Peppers had two sacks, forced one fumble and scored a touchdown.
