The University of North Carolina women's tennis team has signed Dallas, Texas, native Kendall Cline to a national letter of intent, UNC head coach Roland Thornqvist announced on Thursday.
Cline is the No. 2-ranked tennis player in Texas among players under 18 years of age and nationally, she is ranked among the top 50. In August, she advanced to the final round of 16 at the USTA Girls' 18 Super National Hard Court Championships in San Jose, Calif., with four consecutive wins.
"I'm extremely excited to add a player of her ability to our team," said Thornqvist. "Watching her this summer, I was excited by her talent and desire. She wants to work hard and get better and that is exactly what we are looking for in our players. She's a good student and will be a great asset to the Carolina program."
